This April, we look at eye care for autumn and beyond. As the weather cools and the air gets drier, many of us start to feel the effects of the changing season – and our eyes are no exception.
Topics this April:
At Panoptic Vision, autumn is one of the most common times we see people come in with itchy, irritated, or dry eyes. That’s why we’ve put together this quick guide to looking after your eyes during the cooler months – and a timely reminder about World Health Day on April 7.
Whether you're a parent managing a child’s allergy flare-ups or someone who stares at a screen all day, this one’s for you.

🍁 Why Autumn Affects Your Eyes
The drop in humidity, cool breezes, and increased pollen in the air can lead to:
Dry, gritty eyes
Redness and irritation
Watery, itchy eyes caused by allergies
Eye fatigue from indoor heating or screens
Sound familiar? You're not alone – and you don’t have to tough it out.
👁️ Autumn Eye Care Tips from Our Optometrists
1. Relieve Dry Eyes with Moisture-Rich Support
Dry eyes are more than just uncomfortable – they can lead to blurred vision or even damage the surface of the eye if left untreated. We offer a range of moisturising eye drops, gels, and in-practice dry eye treatments to restore comfort and protect your eyes this season.
2. Breathe Easy with Allergy Relief for Eyes
Itchy, red, or watery eyes could be a sign of seasonal allergies. Our team can help diagnose the issue and recommend targeted allergy eye care solutions – including prescription drops or lifestyle tips to reduce exposure.
3. Book a Check-Up (Even if You Think You Don’t Need One)
Eye exams are about more than just reading letters on a chart. A comprehensive eye health check can reveal early signs of conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, or even diabetes. If it's been more than a year since your last eye check, now’s the time to book in.
🌍 World Health Day – Your Vision Matters
April 7 is World Health Day, a time to reflect on how we care for ourselves and others. Vision plays a vital role in our quality of life – from childhood learning to safe driving, enjoying nature, or working with confidence.
This month, we invite you to prioritise your whole-body wellbeing, starting with your eyes.

5 Fun Ways to Celebrate World Health Day with the Whole Family
1. Go on a “Healthy Vision” Nature Walk
Turn your daily walk into a mini eye workout! Spot colours, shapes, animals, or road signs and take turns calling them out. It’s a fun way to give your eyes (and legs) a stretch.
2. Make a Rainbow Plate Together
Challenge the kids to build a meal with as many colourful fruits and veggies as possible. Foods rich in vitamins A, C, and E (like carrots, spinach, and berries) are great for eye health too!
3. Screen-Free Hour – Unplug to Reconnect
Give your eyes a break and bond as a family. Try a board game, drawing challenge, or backyard cricket match. Your eyes – and your relationships – will thank you.
4. Hydration Station!
Make water fun with lemon slices, cucumber or mint. Staying hydrated is essential for overall health and for avoiding dry eyes – especially in Autumn.
5. Book a Health Check (for Grown-ups and Children!)
Let children know that check-ups are fun and nothing to be worried about! Use World Health Day as a nudge to schedule eye exams, dental visits, or a GP check-up – it’s a family wellness win.
